Tim Sherwood confident of Aston Villa survival

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says his troops can take plenty of heart from their recent wins after suffering a setback in the relegation battle by losing to Man City.

Tim Sherwood has said that Aston Villa's recent results are proof that they boast enough quality to stay in the Premier League.

Villa were minutes away from earning another impressive point in their relegation battle after coming from two goals down to peg Manchester City back on Saturday.

However, Fernandinho grabbed an 89th-minute winner to leave Sherwood's side two points above the drop zone in 15th.

Even so, the 46-year-old, who guided the club to wins at Tottenham Hotspur and an FA Cup semi-final triumph over Liverpool, says that their recent results will stand them in good stead.

"We've been away to White Hart Lane and won, we've gone to Wembley and beaten Liverpool and we've come here and should have got something at the home of the champions," he told reporters.

"We expect to win wherever we go and play. We had belief coming in [to the match against City] and if there needed to be more belief they would get that from that performance."

The Villans host Everton on Saturday.
