West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry to make Aston Villa return?

Aston Villa will reportedly make an offer for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry if the club secure a return to the Premier League.

Aston Villa have reportedly identified West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry as a possible transfer target.

Villa are currently looking to achieve promotion to the Premier League, and the West Midlands outfit will compete in the Championship playoffs later this month.

However, according to The Mirror, a shortlist is already being drawn up in the event that a return to the top flight is secured and Barry is being considered for a return to Villa Park.

The latter stages of Barry's youth career was spent at Villa Park, before he made 441 appearances in the first team ahead of a transfer to Manchester City in 2009.

The 37-year-old is in line for another 12-month contract at West Brom, but the Baggies are likely to want to part ways with a player who is currently not in favour both on and off the pitch.
