Shay Given backs Benji Siegrist to leave Aston Villa on loan

Shay Given has backed Aston Villa teammate Benji Siegrist to benefit from a loan move away from the club.

Goalkeeper Siegrist had been part of the Switzerland squad that took part in the London Olympic Games and Given believes that he would now benefit from seeking a temporary move away from Villa Park.

Given said: "The next move for Benji is probably going somewhere on loan.

"I went on loan early in my career and he is at the age now where he probably needs to look at getting the experience of playing games to help and improve him."

The 20-year-old has now returned to Aston Villa after Switzerland finished bottom of their group.
