Jose Gimenez 'to miss Madrid derby'

Atletico Madrid will once again be without the services of centre-back Jose Gimenez for Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Madrid, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid will reportedly once again be without the services of centre-back Jose Gimenez for Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Gimenez, 23, has missed Atletico's last two matches against Deportivo La Coruna and Sporting Lisbon with an ankle problem.

The Uruguay international had been expected to be available for Sunday's Madrid derby, but according to Marca, Gimenez will again be on the sidelines alongside fellow defenders Filipe Luis and Sime Vrsaljko.

Gimenez has scored twice in 32 appearances in all competitions for Atletico during the 2017-18 campaign.

Diego Simeone's side will enter this weekend's capital clash one spot and four points above third-placed Real in Spain's top flight.
