Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that the La Liga champions will appeal Diego Simeone's eight-game touchline ban.
Simeone has been hit with a lengthy ban following his conduct in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup last week, when he became involved in an altercation with the match officials.
The Argentine also spent the second half behind the dugout rather than in the stands – another violation that increased the ban to eight games.
"There is a committee that has issued a verdict and there is not much more to say on the suspension," Cerezo told Canal+.
"We will now have to wait and see how the appeal pans out. We will appeal the ban because that's common sense."
Simeone served the first game of his ban in Atletico's goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano last night.
