Diego Simeone believes that Atletico Madrid's performance in their 2-1 win against Celta Vigo was possibly the "best" in his time at the club.

Diego Costa struck twice to keep Atletico level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga. The win was also the club's eighth in eight league games.

"It's possibly the best since I've been in charge," Goal.com quotes Simeone as saying. "There were no cracks or potholes in the group.

"We had total control, with numerous scoring chances and a lot of pressure in their half. We delivered a near perfect first half."

Atletico travel to Espanyol next in the league.
