Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has played down his side's chances of winning the La Liga title, insisting that the advantage still lies with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Colchoneros currently top the table following their narrow 1-0 victory over Granada last night.
Barcelona also picked up all three points against Celta Vigo, while city rivals Real were defeated 2-1 at the hands of Sevilla.
"Every game is long, hard and difficult. The lads have made an incredible and marvellous effort," Simeone is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo following the game at the Vicente Calderon. "It's a great season but it will be assessed by how we finish it. With eight games to go, the advantage is with those who have more resources.
"If we can reach the last four or five games where we are, then that will encourage us even more. I appreciate the efforts of the club. We've worked well to maintain a solid base.
"[We have] a group of players who have wanted to improve and grow, knowing their flaws and strengthening their virtues."
Atletico return to action on Saturday when they take on Athletic Bilbao.
