Aubameyang to swap Dortmund for Atletico?

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone reportedly wants to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should Antoine Griezmann leave the La Liga club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been earmarked as Antoine Griezmann's replacement at Atletico Madrid.

The Gabon international has endured a difficult season at the Westfalenstadion amid disciplinary issues, despite having already scored 21 goals in all competitions.

Rumors emerged earlier this month that Aubameyang had secretly signed a new contract at Dortmund until 2021, but the 28-year-old has denied putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Meanwhile, Griezmann's future at the Wanda Metropolitano remains in doubt, with Barcelona and Manchester United reportedly vying for the Frenchman's services.

According to The Sun, Diego Simeone is eager for Aubameyang to become Atletico's next big name up front should Griezmann leave next year.

Aubameyang, who is currently sidelined with a hip injury, has scored 141 goals and recorded 36 assists in 212 appearances for Dortmund since his 2013 move from Saint-Etienne.
