Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has said that his club were "spot on" to sign his "good friend" Paco Alcacer from Valencia in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona parted with an initial £25.6m to acquire Alcacer from Los Che in the latter stages of August, with the striker moving to Camp Nou on a five-year contract.
Alba played alongside Alcacer at Valencia, and the Spanish full-back has backed the 23-year-old to impress in Catalonia, despite the fact that Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez are his competition in the final third.
"I see Paco Alcacer as very calm and excited. I've known him for 16 years, he's a good friend of mine and he's a great signing. He will give us a lot, although the three forwards he has ahead of him are the best in the world. He's a player with a lot of goals, he will work hard and Barcelona were spot on to sign him," Alba told reporters.
Alcacer could make his Barcelona debut when the Catalan outfit face Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Saturday night.
