The arrival of Neymar had threatened Messi's position as Camp Nou's biggest star.
"He (Neymar) is a guy who has adapted very quickly to the Barca style," Alba told AS.
"He is very eager, but Messi is number one and always will be for as long as he wishes."
Barcelona are currently in Asia on their pre-season tour.
