Barcelona are reportedly preparing legal action against Atletico Madrid over a disagreement about Antoine Griezmann's buyout clause.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to face legal action from Barcelona due to a disagreement over the terms of Antoine Griezmann's loan deal.

The Frenchman returned for a second spell with Atletico in August 2021, joining on a two-year loan deal from Barcelona.

Griezmann was included in 30 starting lineups for the club in all competitions last season, but he is only featured in the final 30 minutes of games this term, with Atletico looking to avoid paying his £35m buyout clause.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Barcelona are set to launch legal action against Diego Simeone's side as they believe that the deal should be made permanent.

The Catalan giants feel that the purchase clause has already been met after Griezmann played 81% of the minutes he was available last time, exceeding the 50% needed to trigger the buyout.

Barcelona's belief clashes with that of Atletico, who maintain that Griezmann's playing time over two years rather than the one has a bearing on his buyout clause.

Although the 31-year-old has had to settle for a role off the bench, he has still managed to score three goals in five appearances including a 101st-minute winner in Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Porto.
