Luis Enrique: 'Gerard Gumbau is a very interesting player'

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique pays tribute to the qualities of Barcelona B midfielder Gerard Gumbau, who made his first-team debut for the Catalan side at the weekend.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has branded 20-year-old midfielder Gerard Gumbau "a very interesting player".

The Spaniard was recently promoted from Barcelona B following Rafinha's long-term knee injury and the youngster made his first-team debut in Sunday's 4-1 win over Levante in La Liga.

Gumbau recently revealed his delight at making his first appearance for the Catalan outfit and now Enrique has had his say on the midfielder.

"We know him from last season, he can play in different positions in midfield. He was a great signing for the B squad and he is a very interesting player," Enrique told reporters.

Gumbau came through the youth system at Girona before making the move to Barcelona in 2014. Last season, he made 38 appearances for Barca's second team.
