Martin Montoya: 'Difficult to leave Barcelona'

Defender Martin Montoya admits that it was "a bit difficult" for him to swap Barcelona for Inter Milan.

New Inter Milan defender Martin Montoya has conceded that it was tough for him to leave Barcelona.

The 24-year-old rose through the ranks at Camp Nou, but in recent months he had found it difficult to break into Luis Enrique's starting lineup on a regular basis.

As a result, Montoya completed a loan switch to San Siro last week, which he has insisted is the "right decision" for his career.

"It was a bit difficult to leave Barcelona because it's been my home for 15 years, but I'm convinced I've made the right decision and I'm happy here," Montoya told the club's official website.

"I want to play as much as possible in the Nerazzurri jersey. I didn't get so much playing time for Barcelona last year and wasn't happy about it."

Montoya made a total of 67 appearances for Barca, from which he scored two goals.
