The 28-year-old has endured an injury-riddled 2024-25 campaign so far, meaning that he has played a limited role for Hansi Flick's troops.
Christensen has featured in just a single La Liga contest for Barca, who are battling rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid for the Spanish crown this term.
The Danish defender is expected back in the middle of February from a foot issue, although there is a possibility that he has already played his final match for the Spanish giants.
According to The Independent, a Premier League contender is weighing up a shock move for the former Chelsea centre-back before the close of the window.
The report claims that Brentford are considering a swoop for the 28-year-old, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Stamford Bridge during the summer of 2022.
With their difficult financial situation in mind, Barca are supposedly willing to listen to offers for Christensen before the February 3 deadline.
However, it is understood that the 73-time international is keen to remain at the top level of European football and fight for his spot within Flick's first-team plans.

Roma defender to secure Leverkusen switch?
Another player who has struggled for regular first-team minutes this term, Mario Hermoso is approaching a critical junction in his career.
The 29-year-old is currently out of action due to personal reasons at Roma after struggling to make a serious impression so far this campaign.

The report states that a deal for the Spaniard to secure a switch to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen has reached the advanced stages.
It is understood that the move to the German giants under Xabi Alonso will be a temporary one for Hermoso until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
The centre-back will be hoping for more first-team action at BayArena, having started just two Serie A matches for Roma so far this campaign.

The Canadian has failed to start a single Serie A contest during the 2024-25 campaign, totalling a mere 89 minutes of top-flight action.
As a result, an exit from the Nerazzurri is possible for Buchanan, who is said to have attracted interest from Spanish outfit Villarreal.
However, it is understood that Inter want to keep hold of the the wide player, with the 25-year-old only signing from Club Brugge at the start of 2024.
