How Barcelona could line up against Sevilla

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up in Sunday's La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Barcelona will go in search of their fourth straight win in all competitions when they welcome a dangerous Sevilla to Camp Nou in La Liga on Sunday night.

The Catalan giants have been victorious in their last two league games against Villarreal and Getafe, while they beat Inter Milan 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Despite an indifferent start to the season, Barca are only two points off league leaders Real Madrid heading into this weekend's contest, and Ernesto Valverde's side will be eyeing another important win before the next international break.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Spanish champions could line up on Sunday night.

POSS BAR XI vs. SEV

Out: Clement Lenglet (suspended), Jordi Alba (hamstring), Samuel Umtiti (foot)
Doubtful: Luis Suarez (unknown), Junior Firpo (muscle), Ansu Fati (knees)

Left-back and central defence are the main areas of concern for Valverde heading into Sunday's clash.

Jordi Alba is definitely out of the contest with an ongoing hamstring problem, while Junior Firpo is also expected to be absent with a muscular issue. As a result, Nelson Semedo might again have to play on the left with Sergi Roberto featuring on the right despite largely playing in midfield this season.

Clement Lenglet is suspended following his red card against Getafe last weekend, meanwhile, and Samuel Umtiti's absence with a foot injury means that there is not an obvious centre-back partner for Gerard Pique.

Jean-Clair Todibo is the player expected to get the nod, although the 19-year-old has only played four minutes of La Liga football in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign.

Elsewhere, Ansu Fati should be available after missing the clash with Inter due to growing pains in his knees, while Luis Suarez is expected to start despite Barca announcing that the striker would not be joining up with Uruguay over the next international break to undergo 'medical treatment'.

There has been no statement suggesting that the South American will not be available for the Sevilla clash, meaning that Ousmane Dembele might have to settle for a spot on the bench once again. That said, the Frenchman impressed off the bench against Inter after Antoine Griezmann had struggled to make his mark.
