Atletico Madrid have reportedly placed a contract offer on the table for Barcelona's Sergi Roberto.
The 30-year-old's deal at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, meaning that, as it stands, he will be available on a free transfer ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Barcelona boss Xavi has recently spoken of his desire to keep hold of the Spaniard, but the club's financial problems could lead to them losing him on a free transfer this summer.
A number of MLS clubs have allegedly contacted Roberto's agent to register an interest, while a recent report claimed that Atletico were keeping a close eye on the developments.
According to Sport, Diego Simeone's side have now placed an offer on the table for the Spain international in the hope of bringing him to Wanda Metropolitano at the end of the campaign.
Roberto has made 316 appearances for Barcelona since breaking into the first team, winning six La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns and six Copa del Rey trophies.
However, he has been restricted to just 12 appearances at club level this term, having been on the sidelines since the end of October through injury.
