Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto emerges as a target for Atletico Madrid, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.

The 30-year-old's contract at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, and he has thus far been unable to come to an agreement with Xavi's side over an extension.

Roberto has scored twice and registered one assist in 12 appearances for Barcelona this season, but the Spain international has been on the sidelines since the end of October through injury.

Xavi has recently expressed a desire to keep hold of Roberto, but there remains widespread speculation surrounding his future, with Arsenal and Manchester City said to be among those interested in his services.

Meanwhile, a number of MLS clubs have also allegedly been in touch with the midfielder's representatives to discuss a possible switch to North America.

According to Fichajes, there is also interest from Atletico, with Diego Simeone's side determined to keep him in La Liga for the 2022-23 campaign.

Roberto has made 316 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, winning six La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns and six Copa del Rey trophies during his time at the club.
