Veteran midfielder Andres Iniesta has "signed a lifetime contract" with Barcelona, the Spanish club announced on Friday.
The 33-year-old's previous deal at Camp Nou had been due to expire at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, and it had been suggested that the Spaniard could move on next summer.
However, such speculation has now ended with the news that Iniesta, who joined Barcelona at the age of 12, has penned a fresh long-term contract with the Catalan giants.
"Andres Iniesta signed a lifetime contract with FC Barcelona on Friday, in a deal that will keep him at the club for the rest of his career," read a statement on Barcelona's official website.
Iniesta, who has captained the Spanish club since 2015, has already made eight appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season.
The midfielder has scored 55 times in 639 appearances for the club - winning eight La Liga titles, five Copas del Rey and four Champions League titles during his time in the first team.
