Leeds United agree a £12.8m deal with Barcelona for left-back Junior Firpo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Leeds United have reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona over a deal for Junior Firpo.

The former Real Betis man has failed to displace Jordi Alba as the Blaugrana's first-choice left-back and has been expected to complete a transfer elsewhere this summer.

AC Milan were thought to have been in negotiations with Barcelona over a move for Firpo, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are poised to win the race for his services.

Milan supposedly had their sights set on an initial loan deal, and Romano reports that Leeds therefore became the preferred destination for Firpo as he prepares to head to Elland Road on a permanent basis.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are supposedly set to fork out an initial €15m (£12.8m) for Firpo, which will rise with add-ons, and he leaves Barcelona having made 41 appearances over the past two seasons.

Firpo only turned out 18 times for the Blaugrana in all competitions last term, though, starting a mere three La Liga games under Ronald Koeman.
