Former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is believed to be a managerial target for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

Luis Enrique has emerged as a target for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, according to reports.

The former Barcelona manager has followed in Pep Guardiola's footsteps and opted to take a 12-month sabbatical following his departure from Camp Nou at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

According to Tomomercadoweb, however, the CSL giants have sounded out Enrique's camp to gauge his willingness to become their coach next season, which starts in March.

Current Shanghai head coach Gus Poyet is reportedly on borrowed time following a disappointing league campaign which has seen the side slip as low as 11th in the league table.

The Hongkou Football Stadium outfit have spent large sums on money strengthening their team, including making Argentina forward Carlos Tevez the world's highest-paid player.
