Barcelona are monitoring the development of Cruzeiro youngster Estevao William, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on the development of Cruzeiro youngster Estevao William.

The 13-year-old, who has been dubbed 'Messinho', is thought to be one of the best young talents in Brazil.

According to GloboEsporte, Barca sporting director Eric Abidal visited Brazil last October to observe William during a training session.

The report claims that the Spanish champions are now exploring the possibility of signing the teenager due to the instability and financial issues at Cruzeiro.

Lionel Messi famously relocated to Spain to join Barca at the age of 13 before making his competitive debut for the Catalan giants four years later.

Quique Setien's side will be looking to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey when they travel to Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night.
