Versatile Barcelona ace Javier Mascherano will reportedly bring his Camp Nou career to an end next summer and join a club in the United States.

Javier Mascherano will leave Barcelona at the end of the season to join a side in Major League Soccer, according to a report.

The Argentina international has spent the last seven years at Camp Nou, proving invaluable in helping the La Liga giants to 17 major honours with his versatility.

Catalonia daily Sport suggests that the 33-year-old's time at the club is coming to an end, however, having informed president Josep Maria Bartomeu that he wants to see out his playing career Stateside.

Mascherano is said to have ruled out a move to China and Qatar, where more money would be on offer, as he is instead attracted by the lure of uprooting to the United States with his family.

The report suggests that Barca will allow the long-serving defensive midfielder to leave, despite having a year left to run on his existing deal.
