Victor Font: 'Barca should never have signed Griezmann'

Antoine Griezmann should never have been signed by Barcelona, according to presidential frontrunner Victor Font.

Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has questioned why the club felt the need to spend big on Antoine Griezmann.

After months of negotiations, Barca finally agreed a mammoth £108m fee with Atletico Madrid for the France international in July 2019.

Griezmann has struggled to match his Atletico form at Camp Nou, however, and there have been allegations that he has a fractured relationship with Lionel Messi.

Font, who is the frontrunner to succeed Josep Maria Bartomeu as Barcelona's next president, has given a damning verdict on the big-money signing.

"Griezmann was a signing that shouldn't have been made," he told Cadena Copa.

Griezmann has featured nine times in all competitions for Barcelona this season and is in contention to start this weekend's La Liga clash with former side Atletico.
