Lee Johnson: 'Altrincham beat us fair and square'

Barnsley manager Lee Johnson admits that his side were beaten "fair and square" by National League side Altrincham in the FA Cup first round.

Barnsley manager Lee Johnson has admitted that he has no complaints with his side's exit from the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Altrincham.

Damian Reeves's goal at the start of the second half proved decisive as the National League side prevailed against a club two divisions above them, and Johnson has acknowledged the performance of Barnsley's non-league opponents.

The 34-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I have to give congratulations to Altrincham. They have beaten us fair and square and we didn't have enough today. The players have to look deeply at themselves and turn this run around."

The Tykes have now lost their last eight games in all competitions.
