Lee Johnson not fearful of Barnsley sack despite losing run

Under-pressure manager Lee Johnson says that he wants to remain in place at Barnsley and deliver success in the long term.

Barnsley boss Lee Johnson has claimed that he is confident of keeping his job despite a run of four defeats on the spin.

The Tykes find themselves just one point above the drop zone after failing to pick up a point throughout October.

Despite questions being asked over his future, Johnson has declared his desire to remain in place at Oakwell in order to guide the club back up the League One table.

"I love this place and I am going to be here, I hope, a very long time," he is quoted as saying by the Barnsley Chronicle. "I want to be the one to deliver what everybody wants.

"We are all frustrated because we want to deliver. [The owner] wants me to deliver and I want to deliver to everybody else. He's been as good as gold with me. As a human and a boss. I've really enjoyed working with him."

Barnsley play host to fellow strugglers Fleetwood Town at the weekend, before travelling to Scunthorpe United the following week.
