Bayer Leverkusen rule out Javier Hernandez sale

Bayer Leverkusen's in-demand striker Javier Hernandez is not for sale, warns the Bundesliga club's chief executive Michael Schade.

Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Michael Schade has warned interested parties that his club have no intention of selling their leading scorer Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international joined Leverkusen from Manchester United in the summer and has struck 22 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga side this season.

The striker's form has led to talk of a move away at the end of the campaign, but Schade has insisted that the 27-year-old has no desire to leave the BayArena.

"First of all, he has a contract. His move to us has shown that he is not only after the money. Hernandez has never said that he wants to leave," Schade told the Rheinische Post.

"He feels comfortable because he knows he is appreciated. We are a team that allows him to play, he has benefited greatly from the style we play and from playing with his teammates.

"He will help us, but we also help him. If we reach the Champions League we have a very good chance of keeping him at the club."

Thirteen of Hernandez's 22 Leverkusen goals this season have come in the Bundesliga.
