How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Bayern Munich

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for Sunday's Champions League final against Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

Paris Saint-Germain will grace the final of the Champions League for the first time ever on Sunday night when they take on Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

Thomas Tuchel's side overcame RB Leipzig comfortably in the previous round to make it to the biggest game in club football for the maiden time, and now find themselves just 90 minutes away from lifting the trophy the owners want more than any other.

Victory would also see them complete a clean sweep of trophies this season having already lifted all four domestic titles, but they come up against a Bayern team in scintillating form.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how PSG could line up for the mouth-watering showdown.

PSG's main injury concern heading into Sunday's contest surrounds first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas, whose fitness could be important given how freely Bayern Munich have been scoring this season.

Navas was forced off late against Atalanta BC in the quarter-finals and subsequently missed the semi-finals, although he has not yet been ruled out of the final itself and is pushing to make the game as he bids to win the Champions League for a fourth time.

Back-up shot-stopper Sergio Rico is yet to concede a goal since replacing Navas in that quarter-final, though, and Tuchel is unlikely to take any risks in such a big game should Navas be anything less than 100% fit.

Elsewhere, changes are likely to be kept to a minimum but Marco Verratti is in contention for a starting role, having come off the bench for the final seven minutes against RB Leipzig in the semis.

Leandro Paredes looks the most likely to make way should Verratti start, while Idrissa Gueye could provide yet more competition for midfield places if he overcomes the injury which kept him on the bench for the semi-final.

A direct correlation can be drawn between PSG's progress to the final for the first time and Neymar being fit for the latter stages of the competition for the first time since joining the club, and the Brazilian was deployed as a false nine against Leipzig.

Given how well that system worked, Tuchel could choose to stick with a 4-3-3 formation with Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria making up the star-studded front three and Mauro Icardi the unlucky one to miss out.

One player who is almost certain to start is outgoing captain Thiago Silva, who could cement his legacy as one of PSG's greatest ever players if his final action in the shirt is to lift the Champions League trophy aloft.
