Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin is adamant that Bayern Munich should be wary of his side this season after their victory in the German Super Cup at the weekend.
The Bavarian giants finished 25 points clear of second-placed Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga last season as they went on to record the treble, and have been tipped to repeat their success following the signings of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara.
However, Sahin's Dortmund secured a 4-2 victory over Bayern on Saturday, and the midfielder believes that their rivals should take note of them ahead of the new campaign.
"Bayern's preparations for the Super Cup were great," Sahin told reporters. "They scored close to 60 goals in friendlies and cleaned up. That was really impressive and obviously the other clubs really respect that.
"However, we've laid down a marker for the Bundesliga. We've proven there's another way. I think that was in the interest of the entire league.
"We can be really pleased. In my eyes, we've capped off some really good groundwork by winning the Super Cup. Bring on the season."
Dortmund have recruited Henrik Mkhitaryan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sokratis Papastahopoulos this summer.
