Everton's chances of signing Mario Mandzukic look dead in the water after Bayern Munich enter the race to sign the Croatian hitman.

Bayern Munich have reportedly joined the race to sign Wolfsburg striker Mario Mandzukic.

The 26-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Everton, impressed alongside Nikica Jelavic for Croatia at Euro 2012, scoring three goals.

According to German newspaper Bild, the Bavarian giants have already opened talks regarding an £8m move.

Mandzukic has scored 23 goals for Wolfsburg since moving from Dinamo Zagreb in 2010.
