Half-Time Report: Lee Novak gives Birmingham City slender lead

Lee Novak's 29th-minute strike proves enough for Birmingham City to secure a narrow 1-0 half-time lead over Doncaster Rovers.

Birmingham City have secured a narrow 1-0 half-time lead over Doncaster Rovers in the Championship tonight, courtesy of a Lee Novak strike.

Some 29 minutes had elapsed before either team was given a clean sight at goal, and Novak made it count by controlling Mitch Hancox's pass, before smashing past Ross Turnbull from close range.

The 25-year-old almost turned provider to tee up Nikola Zigic, but the striker could not get on the end of Novak's mis-hit scissor kick but it proved academic as the Blues secured the advantage at the interval.
