Henning Berg admits that his Blackburn Rovers side defended poorly after being thrashed 4-1 by Cardiff City at Ewood Park on Friday night.

Blackburn Rovers manager Henning Berg has admitted that his side's defending fell short of the required standard against Cardiff City.

The Championship leaders ran riot in the second half at Ewood Park to take all three points with a convincing 4-1 victory.

Berg believes that his team can do much better but feels that Cardiff were tough to match on their current form.

He told Sky Sports News: "We are disappointed to lose another game at home. We think Cardiff were the better team all over, although maybe not as much as the scoreline suggested but you can't have any complaints.

"They were more experienced than us, they had far better finishing and they also defended better than us, I think that was the key in this game.

"We were not happy with the way we defended, we can defend much better than we did. We can play better than this."

Rovers are now four points off the playoff places and will drop into the bottom half if results go against them this weekend.
