Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has admitted that the club's owners are demanding European football within the next five years.
Rovers currently linger in the relegation zone of the Premier League table, taking just six points from a possible thirty.
While many of Blackburn supporters are willing Kean to be sacked, the club's owners Venky's have remained in support of the Scot.
"The owners want us within four or five years to competing in Europe season on season," The Times quotes Kean as saying.
"I don't think there's any reason why we can't do that. But what they want to do is to do it gradually.
"I don't think they're going to throw hundreds of millions at it to get there in one season."
Blackburn welcome Chelsea to Ewood Park in the sides' league fixture on Saturday.
