Blackburn Rovers: Gary Bowyer wants John O'Sullivan to be involved

Gary Bowyer believes that John O'Sullivan could play for Blackburn Rovers for the first time in almost two years after returning from a loan spell at Barnsley.

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has hinted that John O'Sullivan could have a part to play in the final seven games of the Championship season after returning from his loan spell with Barnsley.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has made just one senior appearance for Rovers - in May 2013 - but might feature given Blackburn's current injury woes.

"Because of the numbers and how we are he will certainly be involved in the squad when he comes back," Bowyer told the club website.

"You only had to look at the other night when we had Connor Mahoney on the bench who had played 90 minutes for the reserves the night before.

"So Jonno comes straight back into the squad after what has been a successful loan for him again at Barnsley."

O'Sullivan made eight appearances for Barnsley in League One after scoring four goals in 13 appearances for League Two side Accrington Stanley during another loan stint earlier this season.
