Blackpool manager Michael Appleton reportedly wants to leave the Championship club following Blackburn's interest in appointing him.

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton has reportedly expressed his desire to leave the club following interest from Blackburn Rovers.

The 37-year-old has been targeted by the Lancashire club, who are searching for a new boss after deciding to dismiss Henning Berg after 57 days in charge, and the former Premier League outfit made an official approach for Appleton yesterday.

The Seasiders are thought to have rebuffed Blackburn's approach but it is understood that Appleton wants to leave and is due to speak to the club's chairman this afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.

It has also been reported that Appleton, who took over at Bloomfield Road in November, did not take this morning's training session with the team.
