Lee Clark determined to hand summer boost to Blackpool fans

Blackpool manager Lee Clark believes that recruiting the correct players can help improve the relationship with the fans this summer.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark has claimed that the focus for the club must be on winning back the support of the fans as they prepare for life in League One.

After relegation was confirmed earlier this week, frustrated supporters threw eggs at the directors' box in protest against chairman Karl Oyston before Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Reading.

Clark believes that the key to lifting the mood which surrounds the club is to build the right squad this summer as they target an immediate return to the Championship.

"We're down a level and that's going to be hard," Clark responded when asked how the club can get fans back inside Bloomfield Road.

"We've obviously had a horrendous season to put up with, but if we do it right with our recruitment process over the summer, we do things in the right way and get the right type of players in - then they can come and watch us over the pre-season and see a new group of players that they can get excited about that we can get them back on to the seats.

"The only way we can do that is by getting a group together that's going to give us a fighting chance to get back up and we hit the ground running at the start of the season."

Blackpool return to action against promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
