Paul Ince sacked by Blackpool, Barry Ferguson temporarily takes over

Manager Paul Ince is sacked by Blackpool, with Barry Ferguson temporarily taking over at Bloomfield Road.

Paul Ince has been sacked as manager of Blackpool.

The Seasiders confirmed this afternoon that Ince's 11-month spell at Bloomfield Road had came to an end and that current player Barry Ferguson will now lead the club temporarily.

Blackpool, who were one of the early pacesetters this season, haven't won in the Championship since November, losing eight of their nine games to slip into the bottom half of the table.

Saturday's 2-0 defeat at bottom club Barnsley looks to have been the final straw for Ince and his assistants Alex Rae and Steve Thompson.

Ince's departure puts the future of his highly-rated son Thomas Ince even more in doubt.

The England Under-21 international's contract will run out at the end of this season and Blackpool must decide whether to cash in on him this window or possibly let him go for free in the summer.

Ligue 1 side Monaco have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old.
