Bolton chief executive Allan Duckworth calls time on his 14-year career with the club following its fall into the Championship.

Bolton Wanderers chief executive Allan Duckworth has decided to leave the Lancashire club following a 14-year stint at the Reebok Stadium.

Duckworth has stepped down from his role at the club after the Trotters were relegated to the Championship following 11 seasons in the Premier League.

"As the club begins a new chapter in its history, with [manager] Owen Coyle setting out the foundations of his plan for the long-term, it feels right for a change, for both myself and for the club," Duckworth told the club's official website.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside added: "Allan and I have worked closely together for 14 years, during what has been a hugely successful time for Wanderers.

"I would like to place on record my sincere thanks for all his efforts during that time on behalf of Bolton Wanderers and wish him well in his new challenges."

Meanwhile, Bolton are believed to be switching their attentions to the transfer market, with former Celtic defender Darren O'Dea believed to be on the club's radar.
