Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has revealed that he is "getting stronger every day" as he continues to recover from his cardiac arrest.
The former England Under-21s international was rushed to hospital, where he remained in a critical condition for several days, after collapsing during Bolton's abandoned FA Cup match with Tottenham Hotspur last March.
While Muamba is grateful that his health is improving and is hopeful of returning to action one day, he has admitted that any comeback is not going to happen in the near future.
"I'm getting stronger every day," says Muabma. "I'm far away from being back on the football pitch. I really, really hope, by the grace of God, that I'll be back on the pitch."
It was announced this morning that Muamba would receive an honourary doctorate from the University of Bolton in acknowledgement of his recovery.
