Bolton Wanderers announce Dougie Freedman has left club by "mutual consent"

Bolton Wanderers announce that manager Dougie Freedman has left the club by "mutual consent" following two years in charge.

Bolton Wanderers have announced that manager Dougie Freedman has left the Championship club by "mutual consent".

The 40-year-old recently stated that he expected to be given time at the club following his side's 4-0 defeat to Fulham on Wednesday.

However, Freedman's time with the former Premier League has come to an end following a two-year spell at the Macron Stadium.

Chairman Phil Gartside told the club's official website: "Dougie has worked tirelessly off the field to improve the infrastructure of the football club. Unfortunately, recent results on the pitch have not reflected all his work off it.

"The club has faced a difficult time following our relegation from the Premier League and Dougie has helped to restructure the club in order for it to become successful again under ever-tightening constraints.

"I would like to thank Dougie personally for all his commitment and efforts for Bolton Wanderers."

The Trotters have lost seven out of their 10 games in the Championship and won just once.
