Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has revealed that Borussia Dortmund have failed with a bid to sign midfielder Karim Bellarabi.
The 26-year-old was targeted by Die Borussen as a potential replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is expected to make a switch to Manchester United in the coming weeks.
Reports have linked Dortmund with moves for both Wolfsburg's Andre Schurrle and Leverkusen ace Bellarabi in recent weeks, although their initial approach for the latter was knocked back.
"There was an official request from Dortmund few days ago, but it was instantly rejected," Voller told Bild. "To sell Karim is not an option for us at Leverkusen. He is definitely staying, he is not for sale."
Dortmund face the prospect of losing a number of big names this season, with Mkhitaryan likely to join Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan in departing the club, while squad player Neven Subotic is also seeking a move away this summer.
