The Football Association has rejected Bournemouth's appeal against the red card issued to Simon Francis during Saturday's match against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The defender was given his marching orders after "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity" in the 57th minute of the Cherries' goalless draw in Leicester.
Bournemouth lodged a claim of wrongful dismissal to the English governing body, but they have not been successful and Francis will serve an immediate one-match ban.
Francis will miss Saturday's third-round FA Cup tie against Birmingham City at St Andrew's.
