Eddie Howe not interested in Newcastle United job

Eddie Howe insists that he has no intention of swapping high-flying Bournemouth for managerless Newcastle United amid speculation linking him with the job.

Eddie Howe has ruled himself out of contention for the vacant Newcastle United job.

After guiding Bournemouth to the top of the Championship, Howe has reportedly found himself on a shortlist of names to succeed Alan Pardew at St James' Park.

Despite admitting that he is flattered by the speculation, the 37-year-old insists that he is fully focused on guiding the Cherries into the Premier League.

"It's flattering," he told talkSPORT. "I am not going to say that you don't want to be linked with jobs because I think if you are not linked with jobs you are not winning games - so I will take that for winning games.

"But I have no interest in any other jobs bar this one. I don't listen to speculation or what the media say, it is very much about the day-to-day running of this football club.

"I love doing the job here and I am focused on our next game on Saturday."

It was reported on Wednesday that the Magpies had sounded out Ajax coach Frank de Boer over the position, which is currently held by caretaker boss John Carver.
