Bournemouth's 'resolute' side delights manager Eddie Howe

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased to see his side defend resolutely in the Championship win over Brentford.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has expressed his delight at the way that his side defended in their 1-0 Championship win over Brentford this afternoon.

The Cherries continued their 100% start to the campaign by edging out the Bees and are still yet to concede a goal this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News shortly after the result, Howe said: "I think we can play better than that, but we showed a different side to our game.

"We defended really well and very disciplined, saw the game out just about in the end with some heroic defending. But fair play to Brentford, they came and gave a real go at it."

Junior Stanislas struck the winner in Bournemouth's first home game of the season with 18 minutes on the clock.

Howe added: "It was a great goal, it was out of keeping with the rest of the game for us, but the two substitutes combined for a great cross.

"Junior was in a great position and finished it off really well."

Bournemouth are the only team to win both of their opening matches and are on top of the table for the second weekend in a row.

They next host Nottingham Forest in the first round of midweek league fixtures on Tuesday night.
