Thiago Silva: 'Brazil are always the favourites'

Thiago Silva insists that Brazil are not scared of their favourites tag at the 2018 World Cup as they gear up for Friday's quarter-final with Belgium.

Thiago Silva has insisted that Brazil are not scared of their favourites tag at the 2018 World Cup because the Selecao enter every competition as the team to beat.

Brazil booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Mexico on Monday afternoon, and will take on Belgium in the last eight on Friday night.

Silva is expecting a difficult match against Belgium, with the central defender insisting that his team will have to "work hard" in order to progress to the semi-finals.

"I think that in all competitions Brazil is the favourite. But we know that's not enough. We have to work hard and give our best every game if we want to win the title. We will continue to work and rest well because Friday's game will be even more difficult," Silva told reporters.

Brazil are five-time winners of the World Cup, but have not triumphed in the competition since 2002.
