Marinus Dijkhuizen "shocked" by Brentford sacking

Marinus Dijkhuizen admits that he is "completely shocked" by Brentford's decision to sack him after just eight Championship games in charge.

Marinus Dijkhuizen has admitted that he is "completely shocked" to have been sacked by Brentford.

The 43-year-old and his assistant coach Roy Hendriksen were dismissed by the Championship club this morning after just eight league games in charge.

Dijkhuizen was appointed by the Bees following the departure of Mark Warburton at the end of last season, but the owners have opted to go in another direction after immediately replacing the Dutchman with Lee Carsley, who will have the role until next May.

After the news was announced, Dijkhuizen tweeted: "Completely shocked by our resignation already! Too short but I enjoyed working at Brentford. Escpecially the fans and atmosphere at GP."

Brentford picked up eight points from a possible 24 under Dijkhuizen and currently reside 19th in the table.
