Brighton & Hove Albion want swift Sami Hyypia replacement

Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber says that the nearing transfer window will make for a swift managerial appointment after Sami Hyypia's resignation.

Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has suggested that the club will have a new manager by the New Year.

The Seagulls want a swift replacement following Monday's resignation of Sami Hyypia, who managed just three wins in 22 league games.

"Clearly we don't want there to be uncertainty for too long, particularly with the transfer window around the corner," Barber told BBC Sussex.

"This is our opportunity to reinforce the squad where we can.

"It's never easy to do business in January but if there are possibilities to do that we will."

Former Stoke City and Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has hinted that he could be open to managing in the Championship, while MK Dons manager Karl Robinson and out-of-work trio Tim Sherwood, Uwe Rosler and Chris Hughton are other names to have been linked with the job.
