Steve Cotterill: 'We deserved to win the game'

Steve Cotterill insists that his Bristol City side deserved to beat Watford in their FA Cup clash at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has insisted that his side deserved to beat Watford in their FA Cup clash.

The match at Ashton Gate finished 1-1, with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas equalising for the hosts just seconds after Sean Murray had given Watford the lead in the 84th minute.

Despite grabbing a late draw, Cotterill believes City deserved their place in the fourth-round.

"I thought we played very, very well today," he told the club's official website. "I think we deserved to win the game. I don't think it was a two or a 3-0 but I think we definitely deserved to nick the game. It was a good game."

"[Watford] are a great club with really nice people there. There is a new manager in there now so they'll be looking to grow in the Championship. It was a tough game for our boys today, but I thought we played really, really well."

The Robbins resume their league campaign next weekend when they face Bradford at Valley Parade
