Sean Dyche rues "too many mistakes"

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says that mistakes cost his team dearly in their 4-2 defeat to Spurs in the FA Cup.

Sean Dyche has claimed that "too many mistakes" undermined his Burnley team in tonight's 4-2 FA Cup third-round defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Clarets raced into a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes, as Marvin Sordell and Ross Wallace found the net, with Paulinho reducing the arrears moments later.

Etienne Capoue bagged an equaliser on the stroke of half time, before a mistake from Burnley keeper Tom Heaton allowed Vlad Chiriches to add a third after the break, while Danny Rose completed the scoring on 52 minutes.

"It was a good game for the neutral," Dyche told reporters. "We came here to win but it was a game of mistakes from us. We've learnt well over the season but there were too many mistakes.

"There were a number of things that didn't go our way but we can't defend like that at key moments.

"We didn't make good decisions. Eventually if you keep making poor decisions, you get hurt."

Dyche's side missed the chance to book a fourth-round tie at fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City.
