Charlie Austin scores after just nine minutes to give Burnley a half-time lead against Barnsley.

Burnley are leading Barnsley 1-0 at half time at home in the Championship.

The hosts made the breakthrough as early as the ninth minute with the first meaningful chance of the match.

Charlie Austin found the target from close range after being set up by Danny Lafferty.

David Edgar had a chance to double his side's advantage on 16 minutes, but he was denied by Luke Steele.

Steele was on hand to keep Kevin Long at bay just minutes after Lee Grant kept out an effort from Jacob Mellis.

Both sides had chances as the first half progressed, but failed to take them and add to the scoreline.
