Burnley announce measures to improve the matchday atmosphere and experience at Turf Moor, with the Clarets failing to pick up a point in their opening five home games.

Burnley have announced measures to improve the matchday atmosphere following a difficult opening to the season at their Turf Moor home.

The Clarets are back in the Premier League following a one-year absence after cantering to the Championship title last season under the stewardship of Vincent Kompany.

Collecting 101 points, Burnley finished 10 points ahead of second-placed Sheffield United and 21 points better off compared to playoff winners Luton Town.

Unsurprisingly, the Lancashire club's home record was the best in the second tier last season, with Kompany's men earning 54 points from 23 matches, losing just once in front of their own supporters.

In contrast, Burnley are the only side in the 2023-24 Premier League who are yet to pick up a result at their home ground, having lost all five of their Turf Moor clashes so far.

Defeats to Manchester City, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea - while expected in isolation - have combined to make grim reading at the beginning of the new top-flight season.

Earlier in the month, Burnley reached out to fans asking how the club could improve the matchday atmosphere at Turf Moor, claiming that the mood was often 'flat' inside the stadium.

"Following feedback from the Fan Advisory Board and supporters, the club are pleased to announce new measures aimed at helping improve the entertainment value and matchday experience at Turf Moor," read a statement published on the club's official website.

"We will be introducing safe standing areas, newly improved music playlists, additional use of stadium LED and big screens, and new measures will be announced allowing flags and banners where appropriate, inside the stadium.

"The initiatives will be in place ahead of our home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday 4th November and we plan to have safe standing areas implemented in the stadium by the end of this season.

"We are currently working with the relevant authorities, including the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the Safety Advisory Group to ensure the best and safest experience.

"At Burnley we are constantly looking for ways to improve the matchday experience and ensure the team feel our support from pre-match to the final whistle, and our supporters input into this is imperative.

"We appreciate the valuable feedback and suggestions we received, and we will continue to consult with our Fan Advisory Board and others for additional ideas to maintain momentum throughout the season."

As mentioned in the statement, Burnley will be hosting Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, with the Clarets looking to record their first positive result at Turf Moor this season at the sixth attempt.
